Everything you might want to know before starting a colour realism or surrealism project with Kimmi — booking, sessions, pricing, and how the design comes together.
Submit an enquiry through the Begin a Project form with as much detail as you can about your idea, placement, and approximate size. Kimmi reviews every enquiry personally and will be in touch if the project feels like a good fit.
Yes. Consultations are available for clients who'd like to talk through their project before booking — ideas, placement, overall direction, and Kimmi's process.
Yes. Most appointments are full-day sessions, which lets the work develop without rushing and gives larger compositions the time they need. Full days run 9:30am to 2:30pm or 4:30pm, with a one-hour lunch.
Larger pieces like sleeves and panels are usually completed across multiple full-day sessions. The number depends on size, placement, and complexity, so the piece develops gradually while keeping balance and flow with the body.
Designs are developed closer to the appointment date and presented at the start of your session, with room for minor adjustments. Because each piece is created for your body and placement, final touches are often made on the day so it fits naturally.
Colour realism and surrealism, often combined into balanced, large-scale pieces designed specifically for the body.
Sessions are calm and unhurried. Full days include time to rest throughout, with refreshments and lunch provided.
Kimmi works from The Grey Heron, a co-owned private studio in Derby, UK — an open-plan space designed to feel calm, comfortable, and focused on the work.
Yes. Kimmi works with clients from across the UK and internationally, and travels for guest spots and conventions through the year.
Most projects are priced at a full-day session rate, with larger pieces developing across multiple sessions. A £200 non-refundable deposit secures your appointment and comes off the final total. Detailed pricing is shared at the enquiry stage.
Projects usually start from your idea or theme, which Kimmi develops into a custom composition for your body.
Absolutely — these are some of my favourite projects to take on. When a client gives me creative freedom, it's usually where I can fully express myself and create some really exciting work. You'd choose the placement and rough size, and the concept and composition grow from there.
Look for a portfolio with consistent quality, strong composition, and real experience with large-scale work — and choose an artist whose style you genuinely connect with. It's one of the most important factors in a piece you'll enjoy for years.
Kimmi's work focuses on larger custom pieces like sleeves and panels. Smaller tattoos are taken on occasionally but aren't the main focus. Clients after smaller work may also be able to book with Benjamin, who works from the same studio at The Grey Heron.
Still have a question? The best place to ask is your enquiry — Kimmi reads every one personally.
